Can you put the ladder on either side of the bed, or is it only set up to be placed on one side?

Sorry, the ladder can only be placed on the left side of the bed, as shown in the image.

What is the age recommendation for this bed? Would it be safe for a 4 year old kid?

Generally, we recommend raised beds like bunks and lofts for children 6 years and up - but you know your child best!
For younger children, we recommend the staircase entry for raised beds, as this is the safest and easiest way to access a raised bed like a Bunk or Loft.

When assembling, is it possible to assemble without the desk? Save it for a few years later?

The loft bed can be assembled without the desk, and the desk can be assembled later.

What is the weight limit for the ladder?

The weight limit is 300 lb capacity. We recommend one person at a time!

What size (thickness) mattress is recommended for this bed?

We recommend a 5" mattress not to exceed 6".
