Are the guardrails removable for adult?

The bed is designed to have the guardrails firmly attached, and we do not recommend removing them.

Can the desk and couch bed switch sides?

The desk and the couch bed on this bed are reversible so you can put them on whichever side best suits your room.

Can this be assembled without the ladder?

You can't do that, because some parts of the ladder are connected to the shelves.
