The loft bed can be assembled without the desk, and the desk can be added later on.

Can a twin XL mattress fit?

This bed was designed to fit a standard twin-size mattress.

Can the ladder switch to the left side?

The ladder can only be placed on the right side.

Is the book shelf interchangeable, can you put it on either end of the loft bed?

You can only put it on the left side just like in the image!

How thick of a mattress does it hold?

We recommend a 5" mattress not to exceed 8".
