The upper bunk has a weight capacity of 300 lbs, since the bed below does not have slats, its weight capacity depends on your mattress.

What materials are used in the construction of this bunk bed?

The bunk bed is made from high-quality solid pine wood and MDF.

Can the slide be removed without compromising the integrity of the rest of the frame?

We do not recommend removing the slide on our bunk beds because doing so leaves a gap on the top bunk. This could be dangerous for children sleeping on the top bunk.

Is a box spring required for this bunk bed?

No, a box spring is not required as the slat kit is included.
